About the Role

TechFilos Technology is seeking a detail-oriented Database Engineer Intern for a 3-month hybrid internship. In this role, you will work directly with our engineering team to design, optimize, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases. You will help manage data models, execute schema migrations, optimize slow queries, and ensure data integrity across our production software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas across SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Write, optimize, and debug complex SQL queries, indexes, and aggregation pipelines.
• Monitor database performance, assist with query tuning, and track system resources.
• Support schema migrations, data backups, and environment syncs across development and production servers.
• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate efficient database layer interactions.

Requirements

• Strong foundational knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts (normalization, indexing, foreign keys).
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB through projects or coursework.
• Understanding of database design principles, query execution plans, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with basic database management tools (e.g., pgAdmin, MongoDB Compass).
• Availability to commit to a 3-month hybrid schedule.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ORMs/ODMs (e.g., Prisma, Mongoose, Drizzle).
• Knowledge of serverless edge databases (e.g., Cloudflare D1, Turso).
• Basic understanding of redis caching, database replication, or backup automation scripts.
